I was to use UMG's office refurb project to create a campaign that communicated a sense of togetherness and connection to their employees through their universal love of music. The campaign was to generate excitement about the new space and to relieve fears about the future of flexible working.

Our universal remix

Is this thing on? *tap tap* Hey there, music lovers! It’s time to confess - the rumours are true. We have a special edition release. A recreation of an original classic, refreshed and revamped, recycled and rebuilt. We’re taking the best of our office and remaking it, for everyone. You won’t find any confusing loops or noisy effects in our new space. But you will find our incredible people working seamlessly together, whether at home or in the office, shaping the future of Universal Music Group and creating music magic. This will be an inspiring place built for us, by us.

Visual ID

Rationale

This route is designed to be vibrant, dynamic, and modular, providing a flexible canvas that can be arranged in a multitude of ways to reflect the boundless creativity of music. The key design element used in this system is the circle, representing the iconic shape of vinyl discs and CDs whilst also creating a visual link to the UMG globe. The use of photography, musical references and shots of office collaboration provide context and energy to the messaging. Headlines are staggered along a ‘cut’, which creates the idea of multiple elements mixing together to create something new. Additionally, we have created a bold, wide-ranging and colourful palette that reflects the energy and vibrancy of music.

Team Reverb

Introducing... ...at the heart of Universal Music Group is a special team of people dedicated to ensuring that the refurb project transforms our offices into a space where our voices are heard, where creativity can echo through the halls, where collaboration is amplified, and where innovation can resonate within us all. It’s their input and feedback that will enhance and help shape the future of UMG.
They call themselves Team Reverb.

Together we mix

Just like when blending individual tracks together, we complement each other in our day to day. We are the engine that creates music magic and we do it by working together, mixing a wealth of ideas, skills, talents and expertise, and hitting play. Whether we work in finance, production, supply chain, legal or tech we all share a love of music. From one track to the next, from floor to floor, office to home, we flow seamlessly at Universal Music Group. We know that when we are all in the same playlist we create our best ideas, so let’s jam!
